This module prepares the students language-wise for the Module 5 “Doing Business in and with Western Europe” at FHWS (Module 5).
The module is not meant for usage in other study programs.

Conditions for participation (in module)
None, as the module is offered on beginner level (A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)). Students that already have a language level higher than A1 can alternatively join one of the language courses that are offered by FHWS' Campus for Language Proficiency.

Module contents
General Language Competence
The course provides basic and advanced knowledge of the German language. This includes grammar, phonetics, vocabulary as well as training of communication skills. Text comprehension and listening comprehension are also parts of this language training. Conversation and development of writing skills to handle everyday situations are also integrated. Besides, topics like history, geography and politics are discussed.
Business Language Competence
The course provides basic and advanced knowledge of German business language. It deals with business vocabulary and its application and will be exercised by reading business articles and newspaper.
Learning outcomes
After successfully completing this module, the students …
- know the basic grammar of German
- are able to write, follow discussions and read.
- are able to discuss daily matters in German language in an appropriate way.
- have the competence to cope with business situations and find a suitable way of using German language in those situations.
